CACC will hold it's final meeting online via Zoom and in person on Fri., June 9, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

The "live" meeting will be held at South Sound Comm. College, (CORRECTED) Lacey campus.

The Lacey campus is at 4220 6th Avenue SE, Bldg 1., Lacey. CACC sent the new location Tuesday a.m.

There will be 20 minutes for public comment, limited to 2 minutes each.

You can email comments in advance to CACC via email as well.

For links to email, comment or to register with Zoom or watch online, please see the main page.

As of June 2, this meeting has not appeared on the CACC website.

The Governor has instructed in his veto message that CACC should make no recommendation.

Bill updates and status - ESHB 1791

Fourteen State Representatives (including House Transportation Chair Fey) co-sponsored this bill.

It addressed many of the concerns from our Town Hall meeting.

The bill passed the House Transportation Committee and the House with a vote of 88-9.

The Senate passed the bill 91-7.

The roll call is on the FAQ page.

The Governor has signed the bill; legislation has passed. Four sections were vetoed (see below).

The Governors veto message can be found here:

ESHB 1791 - final bill as signed

Gov. Inslee signed, but vetoed four sections of the ESHB 1791 yesterday: Secs. 3, 5, 7, and 8.

Even with the veto, it preserves the concerns we had, as well as some gains.

The CACC is disbanded and will take no action.

The Airport Working Group is created with the broader representation we sought.

Recommendations are advisory and have no deadlines.

The veto eliminates greenfield sites; ours and elsewhere. Only existing airports are considered.

The legislation is no longer an "emergency", taking effect in 90 days instead of immediately.

The Seattle Times and News Tribune have articles on this, check their websites for more info.

The LEGISLATIVE CALENDAR

The legislature was adjourned on April 23. It is known as "sine die", Latin for adjournment.

Bills cannot be introduced unless the legislature is called back to special session by the Governor.

The Governor has called the legislature back to special session starting May 16.

Special sessions are almost always for specific items of business, in this case, drug sentencing.

It is very doubtful any airport business will be brought up.
